The Shamokin Area Indians will finish 2023 at home by hosting the Mahanoy Area Golden Bears at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Shamokin Area will be looking to keep their five-game home win streak (dating back to last season) alive.
Last Thursday, Shamokin Area was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 32-28 to North Schuylkill. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Shamokin Area has scored all season.
Meanwhile, Mahanoy Area came up short against Panther Valley on Thursday and fell 56-45.
Shamokin Area's defeat dropped their record down to 5-2. As for Mahanoy Area, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-4.
Shamokin Area took their win against Mahanoy Area when the teams last played back in December of 2022 by a conclusive 49-24. With Shamokin Area ahead 33-7 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
