It was a good run, but the Holy Redeemer Royals unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Thursday. They were beaten by Albany 70-32. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Holy Redeemer has scored all season.
Albany's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Iyana Weedon led the charge by scoring 19 points along with four steals. Those 19 points set a new season-high mark for her. Jordan Johnson was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with seven steals.
Holy Redeemer's defeat dropped their record down to 6-2. As for Albany, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 8-1.
Coincidentally, both teams will both be playing Colonie Central the next time they take the court. Holy Redeemer will head out to face Colonie Central at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, while Albany will host them at 7:00 p.m. on January 9, 2024.
