The Vista Panthers are still undefeated  this season after their  match against the San Diego Cavers  on Thursday, but the San Diego Cavers came as close as anyone has to beating them. Vista narrowly escaped with a  victory as the  squad sidled past San Diego  48-46. Given Vista's advantage  in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings  (they are ranked 50th, while San Diego is ranked 344th), the result  wasn't entirely unexpected.
 Despite the loss, San Diego still got an impressive performance from   Mackenzie Nitzel, who  dropped  a double-double on 12 points and 22  rebounds. Nitzel is absolutely dominating the  rebound category: she's  posted at least eight every time she's  taken the court this season.  Lara Saucedo was another key contributor,  dropping  a double-double on 15 points and 10  rebounds.
 Vista's win bumped their record up to 6-0. As for San Diego, their loss dropped their record down to 3-3.
 Both  teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Vista will take on Valley Center at 7:00  p.m.  on Friday. As for San Diego, they will look to defend their home court  on Tuesday against Holtville at 5:00  p.m.
