The Wausa Vikings had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 21 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They managed a 57-51 victory over Boyd County. That's another feather in the cap for Wausa, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Wausa to victory, but perhaps none more so than Colton Baue, who scored 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brady Bloomquist, who scored 14 points.
Boyd County lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Cash Sinclair, who scored 11 points along with three blocks. Those three blocks set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Hudson Hoffman, who scored 11 points.
Wausa now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Boyd County, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-4.
Wausa and Lutheran-Northeast will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 4, 2024 without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Lutheran-Northeast is looking to tack on another W to their five-game streak on the road. As for Boyd County, they will challenge Santee on Tuesday.
