Baseball Recap: Santana's Luck Changes for the Better on Wednesday

Santana can bid farewell to their five-game losing streak thanks to their game on Wednesday. Everything went their way against the San Ysidro Cougars as Santana made off with a 12-2 victory. The Sultans' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Christian Levesque looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single hit any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Xander Bennett was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March of 2024. Dominic Tavolazzi was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

Santana was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .378. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

The win was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 3-6. As for San Ysidro, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 8-6 record.

Looking ahead, Santana will be taking part in a tournament against Murrieta Mesa at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Murrieta Mesa's pitching crew has only allowed 1.9 runs per game this season, so Santana's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for San Ysidro, they will take on Mission Hills in a tournament on Monday.
