The Laguna Hills Hawks will face off against the St. Anthony Saints at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Laguna Hills is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak.
On Friday, Laguna Hills didn't have quite enough to beat Ocean View and fell 2-1. That's two games in a row now that the Hawks have lost by just one run.
Christian Sigaty was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Laguna Hills saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nate Medina, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, St. Anthony made easy work of Salesian on Friday and carried off an 11-2 victory. The result was nothing new for the Saints, who have now won five matches by seven runs or more so far this season.
Benny Lane made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over five innings pitched. What's more, he gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since back in February. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.
In other batting news, Jason Glenn was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI and one triple. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Owen Frazier was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-2.
St. Anthony kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
St. Anthony has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-7 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. Laguna Hills' loss dropped their record down to 7-6.
