Colusa has gone a perfect 10-0 against Pierce recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The RedHawks will head out to face off against the Bears at 4:00 p.m. Colusa has given up an average of 8.5 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
On Friday, Colusa came up short against East Nicolaus and fell 13-9.
Rowdy Moore put in work no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing four innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off two hits. That's the fewest earned runs he has allowed since back in March. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was his first of the season.
In other batting news, Mason Gutierrez and Jace MacKaben stepped up to the plate in a big way. Gutierrez went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base, while MacKaben went 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Gutierrez also hit a double, marking his first of the season. Kane Nall was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.
Meanwhile, Pierce was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 13th straight loss. They lost 21-6 to Durham.
Mikey Acevedo was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Colin Dye, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.
Colusa's record is now 5-17. As for Pierce, their record now sits at 2-17.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Colusa has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Pierce struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.2 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Colusa beat Pierce 5-0 in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the RedHawks since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
