The Chowchilla Tribe won the last time they faced the Avenal Buccaneers, and things went their way on Tuesday too. Chowchilla put the hurt on Avenal with a sharp 44-24 victory. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Chowchilla.
Leading Chowchilla to victory were Molly Silva and Nour Escheik. Silva scored 13 points along with five rebounds and five steals, while Escheik dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Escheik has scored at least 25% of Chowchilla's points. Rhilee Bass was another key contributor, scoring five points along with five rebounds.
Chowchilla has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 6-8 record this season. As for Avenal, their loss was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 2-10.
Chowchilla will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Yosemite at 6:30 p.m. on January 12, 2024. As for Avenal, they will head out on the road to face off against Summit Charter Collegiate Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Summit Charter Collegiate Academy is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.
