Video: SEC stars back in high schoolSee Leonard Fournette, Jalen Hurts and Myles Garrett in action. The deep south of the United States is a hotbed of high school football talent, so it shouldn't be any surprise that teams from the Southeast Conference stay at home to recruit new players.
According to data provided by the High School Athlete College Guide, Georgia sent the most players to the SEC this year with 270. Florida was the only other state with over 200 players, coming in at 214. Five other states had at least 100 players.
Texas, home to just one SEC school (Texas A&M), came in third with 171 players while Alabama had 150. Louisiana had 130, Mississippi 118 and Tennessee 116.
California, which accounted for a total of 705 players in the Pac-12, Big 10, Big 12 and SEC combined, sent just 33 players to the SEC, or five percent. Ironically, the nation's No. 1 recruit, Najee Harris of Antioch (Calif.) has given a verbal commitment to Alabama of the SEC.
