While the South Spartans couldn't quite beat the East Bakersfield Blades on Thursday, the two-point margin was a huge improvement compared to the 50-point defeat they were dealt last Tuesday. South fell just short of the Blades by a score of 32-30. South has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
East Bakersfield's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Megan Sanders, who scored two points along with seven rebounds and six assists. Another player making a difference was Esmeralda Roman, who scored nine points along with two steals.
South has traveled a rocky road recently having lost ten of their last 12 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-16 record this season. As for East Bakersfield, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-12 record this season.
Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing North the next time they take the court. East Bakersfield will head out to face North at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while South will host them at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
