The Eureka Loggers are taking a road trip to challenge the McKinleyville Panthers at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Eureka is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last three games.
While Eureka's win against Arcata wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Loggers sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-2 victory over the Tigers on Saturday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Loggers have posted since March 25th.

Eureka got a great performance from Kyle Johnston as he struck out ten batters over 6.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. The Loggers are 2-1 when Johnston allows three or fewer hits, but 6-8 otherwise.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Ty Crawford, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, McKinleyville got the win against Fortuna on Monday by a conclusive 14-4. The Panthers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine games by six runs or more this season.
Bryce Sargent was incredible, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Riles Egbert, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three doubles, and one stolen base.
McKinleyville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .632. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
McKinleyville's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-4. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Eureka, their record is now 8-9.
Eureka might still be hurting after the 15-1 defeat they got from McKinleyville in their previous matchup on April 12th. Can the Loggers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
