After a string of six wins, the Encinal Jets's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. Their rough 65-43 defeat to Alameda might stick with them for a while. Encinal was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Alameda apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January.
When it comes to explaining why Encinal lost, one person who can't be blamed is Lola Whalen. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 21 points and 11 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Whalen has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Jazzy Alcantar, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds.
Encinal's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 14-10. As for Alameda, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season.
Encinal will play host again and welcome Mt. Eden, where tip off is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Mt. Eden is coming into the matchup with eight straight victories on the road, meaning Encinal will have to defend against a squad hungry for a victory. As for Alameda, they will square off against Bishop O'Dowd at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Bishop O'Dowd is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
