Tulare Western took a ten-run loss the last time they faced off against Mission Oak, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Mustangs sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-4 win over the Hawks on Wednesday. Winning may never get old, but the Mustangs sure are getting used to it with their fifth in a row.
William Masterson made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched five innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. Masterson was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. That's the most runs he has posted since back in May of 2024.
In other pitching news, Landon Peredo looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Tulare Western is 4-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 5-8-1 otherwise.
Masterson wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Andres Huizar, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI. That's the most hits Huizar has posted since back in March.
The victory got Tulare Western back to even at 9-9-1. As for Mission Oak, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-8-1.
