It was a good run, but the Poway Titans unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Wednesday. They took a 72-64 hit to the loss column at the hands of Westview. Poway was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Westview apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January.
When it comes to explaining why Poway lost, one person who can't be blamed is Ari Mason. Despite the final result, she scored 20 points. Katelyn Johnson was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Westview's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Katie Graves led the charge by scoring 20 points along with eight rebounds and four blocks. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Graves has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Sydney Heyn, who scored 20 points along with seven rebounds.
Poway's loss dropped their record down to 16-7. As for Westview, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-10 record this season.
Poway will head out on the road to take on Mission Hills at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Poway is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 55 points per game this season. As for Westview, they will head out on the road to face off against San Marcos at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Westview is facing San Marcos at the right time seeing as San Marcos is stuck on a five-game losing streak.
