Cerritos has gone a perfect 5-0 against Paramount recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Dons will head out on the road to take on the Pirates at 3:15 p.m.
On Wednesday, Cerritos didn't have quite enough to beat Long Beach Poly and fell 7-6. The Dons have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Julian Diaz was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs and one double. Jayce Aragon also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Paramount). They put the hurt on Firebaugh with a sharp 19-6 win on Friday. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 3, 2023, but that streak is no more.
Paramount got a massive performance out of Luis Banuelos, who went 4-for-5 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. Those four hits gave Banuelos a new career-high. Another player making a difference was AdriAn Flores, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and three RBI.
Paramount always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .641. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Paramount's victory bumped their record up to 7-1. As for Cerritos, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-3.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Cerritos has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.1 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Paramount struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.6 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Cerritos beat Paramount 11-7 when the teams last played back in March of 2025. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Dons since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
