The Ritchie County Rebels and the Mingo Central Miners will face off at 9:30 a.m. on February 6th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. The pair have had a bumpy ride up to this point with five consecutive losses for Ritchie County and four for the Miners.
Last Tuesday, Ritchie County had to suffer through a rough 65-36 loss at the hands of the Titans. Ritchie County was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 36-13.
Despite the defeat, Ritchie County saw an underclassman step up: Elsa Law scored 13 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. Law hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Chelsie Jeffrey, who scored nine points along with two steals.
Ritchie County struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Mingo Central pushed their score all the way to 57 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 69-57 to Greenbrier East.
Ritchie County has not been sharp recently as the team's lost nine of their last ten contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season. As for Mingo Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-8.
