Horizon and Legacy are an even 5-5 against one another since September of 2015, but likely not for long. The Hawks will host the Lightning at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Horizon's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Saturday. They were the clear victors by a 14-0 margin over Denver South.

Kaiya Barela made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 14 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.
In other batting news, Horizon got a massive performance out of Adrianna Jaramillo, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs and two RBI. Those four hits gave Jaramillo a new career-high. Tessa Munsch was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
Horizon kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in 11 consecutive matchups.
Legacy never got on the board in their matchup on Thursday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Monarch on Saturday. They put the hurt on the Coyotes with a sharp 15-3 win.
Kady Cosyns looked comfortable as she struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits.
At the plate, Prisca Smolens was a standout: she went 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Marcella Moritz, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.
Horizon has been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 13 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for Legacy, their win bumped their record up to 11-9.
Legacy's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Horizon has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.2 hits per game. It's a different story for Legacy, though, as they've been averaging 9.6 hits. Given Horizon's sizable advantage in that area, the Lightning will need to find a way to close that gap.
Horizon beat Legacy 8-3 in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. Will the Hawks repeat their success, or do the Lightning have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
