El Dorado is 0-10 against Bradshaw Christian since April of 2021 but things could change on Tuesday. The Cougars will take on the Pride at 4:00 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (El Dorado 3.4, Bradshaw Christian 0.5) so any runs scored will be well earned.
El Dorado fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Liberty Ranch on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 6-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Hawks. The Cougars have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Gavin Ashton spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and four unearned) runs on nine hits.
At the plate, JJ Allen made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Jackson Miller, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-4.
Meanwhile, Bradshaw Christian strolled into their game on Friday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They put the hurt on Amador with a sharp 11-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Pride, who have now won 11 matches by six runs or more so far this season.
Ethan Rickert and Ethan Quach were a major factor no matter where they played. On the mound, Rickert pitched 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Quach struck out seven batters over 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Rickert has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances. At the plate, Rickert scored a run while going 2-for-3, while Quach went a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. What's more, Rickert posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in May of 2024.
In other batting news, Evan Rickert was incredible, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. That's the most runs he has posted since back in February of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Evan Fujii-Sisler, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-2.
Bradshaw Christian hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in nine consecutive games.
Bradshaw Christian's win was their 22nd straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 13-0. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.1 runs over those games. As for El Dorado, their loss dropped their record down to 9-7.
El Dorado might still be hurting after the 11-0 defeat they got from Bradshaw Christian in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Cougars avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
