The James Logan Colts will square off against the Berkeley Yellowjackets at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: James Logan has struggled recently with three defeats in a row, while Berkeley will arrive with five straight victories.
James Logan came into this matchup off a tough 11-run loss on Friday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of Alameda by a score of 7-5 on Monday.
Marcos Jung was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run over 4.1 innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, James Logan saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Wesley Vega, who went 3-for-4 with two runs and one triple. Vega is becoming a predictor of the Colts' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 1-5 when he doesn't). Amado Viray Santos was another, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Berkeley). They put the hurt on Foothill with a sharp 11-2 win on Wednesday. While the Yellowjackets didn't have the best season last year (they finished 10-13), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.
Seddrick Henderson looked comfortable as he tossed four innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits.
At the plate, Isaiah Mays was a standout: he got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, four runs, and one RBI. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Miles Mino, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
James Logan's defeat dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Berkeley, their victory bumped their record up to 6-1-1.
James Logan beat Berkeley 6-2 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Will the Colts repeat their success, or do the Yellowjackets have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
