It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but the Portage Mustangs ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They walked away with a 59-52 win over Penns Manor. The win was just business as usual for Portage, who after six games remain undefeated this season.
Portage was led to victory by Brooke Bednarksi and Jenna Burkett. Bednarksi dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds, while Burkett scored 26 points along with nine rebounds. The contest was Burkett's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Alex Chobany, who scored nine points along with six rebounds.
Portage pushed their record up to 6-0 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road. As for Penns Manor, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 3-1.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Portage will take on Conemaugh Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Conemaugh Valley comes in still looking for their first win of the season. As for Penns Manor, they will stay at home for another game and welcome Homer-Center at 6:00 p.m. on December 14th. Homer-Center has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
