The Borrego Springs Rams's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They took a hard 32-16 fall against Mountain Empire. Borrego Springs lost against Mountain Empire in their previous head to head back in November of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 17-11 score last time.
Abigail Gonzalez and Briana Torres certainly did their best on Tuesday to try and avoid the loss. Gonzalez scored 4 points along with 8 rebounds and 4 blocks, while Torres scored 0 points. Gonzalez is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season.
Mountain Empire was led to victory by Bibi Caceres and Aisha Acevedo. Caceres scored 9 points, while Acevedo scored 9 points.
Borrego Springs' loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Mountain Empire, the win got them back to even at 1-1.
Borrego Springs will head out on the road to face off against Tri-City Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Tri-City Christian focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 last Saturday. As for Mountain Empire, they will be playing in front of their home fans against The Cambridge School at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
