After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Minden, the Wood River Eagles were happy to have found some success on Friday. They skirted past Doniphan-Trumbull 51-48. Wood River's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ellie Morgan led the charge by scoring 22 points along with five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Morgan has scored all season. Sidney Frear was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with eight rebounds.
Despite the loss, Doniphan-Trumbull saw an underclassman step up: Charlee Richter scored 18 points along with five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Ridley Sadd, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds.
Wood River's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-9. As for Doniphan-Trumbull, they have not been sharp recently as the team has lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-11 record this season.
Wood River will take on Sutton at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Nebraska (Wood River is ranked 102nd, while Sutton is ranked 95th).
