After three games on the road, Butte Valley is heading back home. They will take on the Surprise Valley Hornets at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.
Last Wednesday, Butte Valley came up short against Hayfork and fell 32-24. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Butte Valley has scored all season.
Meanwhile, while it was all tied up 18-18 at halftime, Surprise Valley was not quite Burney's equal in the second half on Thursday. Surprise Valley was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 37-36 to Burney. Surprise Valley has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
The losing side was boosted by Elizabeth Lopez-Rangel, who scored 17 points. That's the first time this season that she scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Rylee Arreche, who scored six points.
Butte Valley's loss dropped their record down to 8-4. As for Surprise Valley, their loss was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 6-5.
Butte Valley was able to grind out a solid win over Surprise Valley in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, winning 50-37. Does Butte Valley have another victory up their sleeve, or will Surprise Valley turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
