Baseball Recap: Liberty Comes Up Short

Liberty suffered their closest defeat since March 6th on Wednesday. They fell just short of the El Diamante Miners by a score of 7-5. The Bison have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Liberty saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Matthew Schaeffer, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one double. Schaeffer has become a key player for the Bison: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 1-6 otherwise. Another was Nate Wellen, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Liberty's loss dropped their record down to 4-7. As for El Diamante, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 11-4.

Coming up, Liberty will head out on the road to take on Chula Vista at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for El Diamante, they will head out to square off against Valley Center at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday.
