The Central Valley Hawks are on the road again on Tuesday and plays the Paradise Bobcats at 3:00 p.m. on February 13th. Central Valley's last three contests have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Central Valley couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They fell just short of the Blue Devils by a score of 1-0. While losing is never fun, Central Valley can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 347th, while Davis Sr. is ranked 34th).
Meanwhile, Paradise had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.5 goals), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. Their defense stepped up to hand Williams a 2-0 shutout. Give Paradise's defense some credit: that's the team's third straight shutout.
They were led to victory by the tag-team duo of
Kira Imrie and
Ruby Wyse, who scored both of Paradise's goals. The pair have combined for a total of 14 so far this season.
Central Valley's loss dropped their record down to 17-5-2. As for Paradise, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-4-2.
