The top 15 teams in this week's MaxPreps Top 25 high school softball rankings held strong for the first time this season.
No. 13
Pace (Fla.) lost its first game of the season Friday but powerful right-handed ace
Hannah DeMarcus was not in the circle. That may be because the sophomore had an incredible outing Thursday, striking out 33 batters and not allowing a hit during a 12-inning, 1-0 win over Niceville. The sophomore sensation has mowed down 172 batters in 64 innings of work.
Weddington (Matthews, N.C.) enters the MaxPreps Top 25 after a 12-0 start. The Warriors return most of the lineup from a team that fell in the Class 4A state championship a year ago. Junior Lenoir-Rhyne commit
Joella Thomas has been strong in the circle while seniors
Adriana Lamantia,
Sammy Lamantia, Appalachian State commit
Emersyn Presutty and North Carolina A&T pledge
Ava McCauley bring big bats to the lineup.
Hamilton Southeastern (Fishers, Ind.) is off to a 2-0 start behind reigning MaxPreps Indiana Player of the Year
Grace Swedarsky, who returns for her junior season after going 18-2 in the circle with 270 strikeouts. The Royals finished 2024 by capturing the 4A state title with a dramatic walk-off 2-1 victory.

After earning state POY honors as a sophomore, Grace Swedarsky of Hamilton Southeastern (Fishers, Ind.) has struck out 23 batters in 10 innings of work this springs. (PHOTO: Julie L. Brown)
