Quincy has gone 8-2 against Biggs recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Trojans are taking a road trip to face off against the Wolverines at 2:00 p.m. Quincy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.5 runs per game this season.
Quincy hadn't beaten Chester on the road since March 17, 2023 but that history sure didn't bother them on Tuesday. The Trojans walked away with a 6-1 victory over the Volcanoes.
Jake Thackeray made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.
Thackeray wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Nathan Schmid, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, Biggs waltzed into their matchup last Tuesday with four straight wins... but they left with five. Everything went their way against the Yellowjackets as they made off with an 18-2 win. The result was nothing new for the Wolverines, who have now won seven contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Like Quincy, Biggs also got a great game from a two-way player: Collin Beck. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Beck was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, Matthew Martin was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Biggs is undefeated when Martin posts two or more runs, but 3-4 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Brady Smith, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
Biggs was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .455. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .367 or higher in three consecutive games.
Biggs pushed their record up to 8-4 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.8 runs over those games. As for Quincy, their record now sits at 8-5.
Both Quincy and Biggs just can't seem to miss. The Trojans have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.8 hits per game. However, it's not like Biggs struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Quincy's way against Biggs in their previous matchup back in April of 2022, as Quincy made off with an 11-4 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Trojans since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
