Workman is 0-3 against Montebello since December of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Workman Lobos just played last night, but they'll still head out to face the Montebello Oilers at 6:00 p.m. on December 22nd. Neither of these teams found much success offensively their last time out, scoring well below their season average.
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 45-13, which was the final score in Workman's tilt against Don Lugo on Thursday. While losing is never fun, Workman can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1198th, while Don Lugo is ranked 459th).
Meanwhile, Montebello took a serious blow against Palos Verdes on Saturday, falling 73-19. Montebello has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Workman's defeat was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 3-13. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 18.0 points per game. As for Montebello, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season.
Workman was dealt a bruising 52-7 loss at the hands of Montebello when the teams last played back in November of 2022. Can Workman avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
