After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Coudersport, the Smethport Hubbers were happy to have found some success on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Galeton 44-14 on the road. That's another feather in the cap for Smethport, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Smethport to victory, but perhaps none more so than Elizabeth Hungiville, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 18 rebounds. Hungiville is crushing the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. Payton Neff was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with six rebounds and four steals.
Despite the loss, Galeton still got an impressive performance from Lynlee Basile, who scored ten points. That was a full 71.4% of Galeton's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Smethport's victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-13. As for Galeton, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-17.
Smethport will be playing in front of their home fans against Austin at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Galeton, they will head out on the road to challenge Coudersport at 12:00 p.m. on Friday. Galeton is coming into the matchup with 18 straight losses on the road, meaning Coudersport will have to defend against a team hungry for a win.
