A feisty cat fight will be fought as Beaumont Cougars challenge Redlands East Valley Wildcats at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday. Beaumont has now lost seven straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since February 28.
Beaumont lost 11-3 to Arrowhead Christian on Saturday.
Beaumont saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alex Diaz, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and three RBI.
Meanwhile, Redlands East Valley got themselves on the board against Vista del Lago on Saturday, but Vista del Lago never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Ravens with a sharp 17-0 victory. Considering the Wildcats' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.
Alan Gibbons made a splash while hitting and pitching. He tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted two strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.
In other pitching news, Brayden Dismang and Ethan Snellings dominated on the mound. Dismang tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits, while Snellings pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Dismang also tossed no walks, which is notable because Redlands East Valley is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 5-6 otherwise.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Azeal Hernandez, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. Arthur Chavez was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-1.
Redlands East Valley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .639. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
The win got Redlands East Valley back to even at 7-7. As for Beaumont, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-9.
