The Riverview Raiders will be playing at home against the East Allegheny Wild Cats at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Riverview focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 on Monday.
Last Monday, Riverview was fully in charge, breezing past Springdale 61-15 at home. The win was just what Riverview needed coming off of a 63-34 loss in their prior game.
Riverview's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Lola Abraham, who scored ten points along with six assists and four steals, and Katerina Tsambis, who scored 19 points. The match was Abraham's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Lily Bauer, who scored nine points along with five rebounds.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to East Allegheny, who are still winless after their fifth game. They were just a bucket shy of victory on Wednesday and fell 29-28 to Leechburg. While losing is never fun, East Allegheny can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 440th, while Leechburg is ranked 195th).
Riverview's win ended a three-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-1. As for East Allegheny, they bumped their record down to 0-5 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season.
Everything went Riverview's way against East Allegheny when the teams last played back in December of 2022 as Riverview made off with a 35-14 win. With Riverview ahead 25-5 at the half, the match was all but over already.
