The Kelseyville Knights will square off against the Middletown Mustangs at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Kelseyville was handed a heart-breaking two-run defeat in their last contest, but they sure didn't let that happen against Lower Lake on Tuesday. The Knights put the hurt on the Trojans with a sharp 12-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Knights, who have now won nine games by ten runs or more so far this season.

Gene Holdenried made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Those ten strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, Kyle Watkins was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Max Hommer, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with two runs.
Cloverdale hit Middletown with a seven-run second inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Mustangs took a 15-10 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Eagles. The Mustangs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Tyler Galamay was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of John Finney, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Kelseyville's victory was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-3. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Middletown, their loss dropped their record down to 4-10-1.
Middletown's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Kelseyville has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .485. It's a different story for Middletown, though, as they've only averaged .351. Will they be able to contain Kelseyville's hitters?
Everything went Kelseyville's way against Middletown in their previous matchup on April 7th, as Kelseyville made off with a 14-4 victory. Do the Knights have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Mustangs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
