Rockmart is on a six-game streak of home wins, while Cook is on a five-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Rockmart Yellowjackets will take on the Cook Hornets at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The pair have allowed few points on average, (Rockmart: 12, Cook: 14.5) so any points scored will be well earned.
Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Rockmart walked away with it. They put the hurt on the Bulldogs with a sharp 45-21 win on Friday. Considering Rockmart has won nine games by more than 23 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Rockmart got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Calliyon Thompson out in front who rushed for 55 yards and two touchdowns, and also threw for 204 yards and two touchdowns while completing 73.3% of his passes. Nahzir Turner was another key contributor, picking up 106 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Cook has more to be thankful for after their contest against Columbia on Friday. Cook narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Columbia 23-20.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Cook to victory, but perhaps none more so than Keshun Mckever, who rushed for 145 yards.
Their wins bumped Rockmart to 11-2 and Toombs County to 11-2.
