Baseball Recap: Hilmar Wins Going Away Against Orestimba

Hilmar won the last time they faced Orestimba and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Yellowjackets put the hurt on the Warriors with a sharp 11-1 victory. Considering the Yellowjackets have won eight games by more than seven runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Bradley Chipponeri spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on three hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, John Labno and Tanner Westmoreland did most of the damage at the plate: Labno scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Westmoreland scored three runs while going 2-for-4. John Lopez was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

They weren't the only ones working in the hit department: Hilmar kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive matchups.

Hilmar's win bumped their record up to 11-2. As for Orestimba, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 12 of their last 13 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-16 record this season.

Hilmar will have a chance to go back-to-back against Orestimba: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
