It was a good run, but the East Nicolaus Spartans unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They fell just short of Colusa by a score of 49-47. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss East Nicolaus has suffered yet this season.
East Nicolaus' loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tiare Faupula, who scored 17 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Faupula has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Rylee Gillespie, who scored 15 points along with five assists and two steals.
Danica Chavez was her usual excellent self, scoring 24 points for Colusa. Chavez hasn't dropped below 15points for three straight games. Olivia Huskey was another key contributor, scoring 16 points.
East Nicolaus' defeat dropped their record down to 7-6. As for Colusa, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-5.
East Nicolaus will head out on the road to square off against Willows at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Colusa, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Winters at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Winters is looking to tack on another W to their four-game streak on the road.
