While Newton's win against Grovetown wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Newton's pitcher stepped up to hand Grovetown a 1-0 shutout on Wednesday. The victory was nothing new for the Rams as they're now sitting on three straight.

Caden Brown was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over seven innings pitched. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in February. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Newton's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-7. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Grovetown, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-13.

Newton will have a chance to go back-to-back against Grovetown: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:55 p.m. on Friday.
