The Central Cabarrus Vikings and the Sun Valley Spartans will round out the year against one another at 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday at. Central Cabarrus will be coming into the contest with an undefeated record on the line.
Even though Chambers scored an imposing 72 points on Thursday, Central Cabarrus still came out on top. Central Cabarrus walked away with an 84-72 win over Chambers.
Central Cabarrus' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Desmond Kent Jr. led the charge by scoring 29 points along with seven rebounds. The match was Kent Jr.'s eighth in a row with at least ten points. Carson Daniel was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with eight assists and four steals.
Meanwhile, Sun Valley pushed their score all the way to 57 last Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 65-57 hit to the loss column at the hands of Hickory Ridge. While losing is never fun, Sun Valley can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 421st, while Hickory Ridge is ranked 58th).
Central Cabarrus' victory bumped their record up to 8-0. As for Sun Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 3-6.
Central Cabarrus strolled past Sun Valley in their previous matchup back in December of 2021 by a score of 67-53. Will Central Cabarrus repeat their success, or does Sun Valley have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
