Basketball Recap: Corcoran Piles Up the Points Against Granite Hills

Corcoran entered their tilt with Granite Hills on Thursday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They breezed by the Granite Hills Grizzlies to the tune of 57-20. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 62-24 back in January.

Corcoran's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jolie Rivera, who went 7 for 12 on her way to 15 points and three steals. Rivera has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last eight times she's played. Kaelynn Castillo was another key player, going 6 of 12 en route to 15 points.

Corcoran smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their offensive rebound total in three consecutive contests.

Corcoran has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a massive bump to their 13-11 record this season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 25.8 points per game. As for Granite Hills, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-13.

A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Corcoran Panthers face off against the Lindsay Cardinals at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Granite Hills, they will take on Summit Charter Collegiate Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Summit Charter Collegiate Academy's defense has only allowed 27.8 points per game this season, so Granite Hills' offense will have their work cut out for them.
