Santa Fe is 0-10 against La Serna since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Santa Fe Chiefs' road trip will continue as they head out to face the La Serna Lancers at 5:00 p.m. on January 24th. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Wednesday, Santa Fe escaped with a win against El Rancho by the margin of a single free throw, 43-42. The victory was just what Santa Fe needed coming off of a 64-26 loss in their prior match.
Santa Fe's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Emily Collins, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds, and Natalie Rivera, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds and four steals.
Meanwhile, La Serna had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 17.8 points), and they went ahead and made it six on Friday. They managed a 45-40 win over Whittier. That's two games straight that La Serna has won by exactly five points.
Santa Fe's win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 10-11. As for La Serna, they pushed their record up to 11-13 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road.
Santa Fe came up short against La Serna when the teams last played on January 5th, falling 47-41. Can Santa Fe avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
