After a string of three wins, the Hemet Bulldogs's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 53-52 to Tahquitz. Hemet lost against Tahquitz in their previous head to head back in December of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 63-35 score last time.
Glory Valencia and Ruby Lindsey certainly did their best on Tuesday to try and avoid the loss. Valencia scored 18 points along with nine steals and five rebounds, while Lindsey scored 12 points along with eight steals and six assists. Valencia continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last five games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Shaniya Dodson, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Hemet's defeat dropped their record down to 4-2. As for Tahquitz, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
Hemet will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Palm Desert at 5:30 p.m. Hopefully Palm Desert focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 27 on Saturday. As for Tahquitz, they will head out on the road to face off against Elsinore at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Elsinore is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.
