Maricopa is 0-10 against Coastal Christian since February of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Maricopa Indians are on the road again and play against the Coastal Christian Conquerors at 5:00 p.m. on December 22nd. Maricopa comes in on a streak of failing to score more than nine points in their last five games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
Last Thursday, Maricopa took a serious blow against Valley Christian Academy, falling 59-6.
Despite their loss, Maricopa saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Katia Espinosa, who scored four points along with eight rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. Espinosa set a new season high mark in blocks with two.
Coastal Christian has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three games by 22 points or more this season. They simply couldn't be stopped on Thursday as they easily beat Shandon 63-2 on the road. Coastal Christian's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Maricopa's defeat was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-5. As for Coastal Christian, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-3.
Maricopa was taken down by Coastal Christian 44-8 in their previous matchup back in January. Can Maricopa avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
