Desert hasn't had much luck against California City recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Scorpions will square off against the Ravens at 3:15 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Desert not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since March 21st (when they won 26-4). They put the hurt on Frazier Mountain with a sharp 15-1 victory. The win continues a trend for the Scorpions in their matchups with the Falcons: they've now won four in a row.

Landon Kizzer made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over four innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Desert is 2-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 4-7 otherwise. Kizzer was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three doubles, and three RBI. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Alex Mendoza was incredible, going 1-for-3 with three stolen bases, four runs, and one double. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Erick Cordova also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Meanwhile, California City came tearing into Saturday's match with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They were the clear victors by a 13-3 margin over the Suns. Considering the Ravens have won eight contests by more than seven runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Like Desert, California City also got a great game from a two-way player: Aaroon Moreno. He struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. Moreno was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kevin Hightower, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with five stolen bases and three runs. Donnie Hogan was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
California City's record now sits at 14-9-1. As for Desert, the victory was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 6-8.
Tuesday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Desert has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .459. However, it's not like California City struggles in that department as they've averaged .442. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Desert might still be hurting after the 20-0 defeat they got from California City when the teams last played back in March. Can the Scorpions avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
