Video: Nick Thorne's highlights Portland High School
Watch the junior running back for the Scots, Maine's most dominant football program since 2006.
Sustained excellence is what programs strive for, but in order to truly be dominant you've got to cash the big prize in every so often. That's how Bonny Eagle earned the title of Maine's most dominant football program since MaxPreps became America's source for high school sports in 2006.
The Scots have been ranked each year but one since 2006. Nice, but it's all about the 'ships. And Bonny Eagle has those, winning the Class A title in 2007, 2008, 2013 and 2016. Based on our points system that adds up to the most dominant, just ahead of Thorton Academy and Winslow.
Here is how the points break down:
1. 20 for a state title
2. 10 for state championship game appearance
3. Other points are based on where a team finished in the final
MaxPreps Maine Football Computer Rankings presented by the Army National Guard. For example, if a team finished No. 1 overall, it would receive 25 points. If it finished 25th overall, the team would get one point. No points are awarded if the team did not finish in the Top 25.
