The Midd-West Mustangs will head out on the road to face off against the Northumberland Christian Warriors at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Pennsylvania (Midd-West is ranked 337th, while Northumberland Christian is ranked 312th).
After soaring to 60 points the game before, Midd-West were a bit more limited in their match on Thursday. They fell 31-19 to Benton.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Izzy Walter, who scored six points along with ten rebounds and three steals. She scored a full 31.6% of Midd-West's points, the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Lauren Nesbit, who scored two points along with seven rebounds.
Meanwhile, Northumberland Christian scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Monday. They strolled past Sullivan County with points to spare, taking the game 42-24. That looming 42-24 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Northumberland Christian yet this season.
Midd-West's defeat was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-3. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 21.0 points per game. As for Northumberland Christian, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.
Midd-West was taken down by Northumberland Christian 56-26 when the teams last played back in December of 2022. Can Midd-West avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
