The Lathrop Spartans waltzed into their contest Tuesday with two straight wins but they left with three. They walked away with a 54-43 win over Grace Davis. That's another feather in the cap for Lathrop, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Lathrop's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Shakara Porter, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds. Porter is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last 17 games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Marianna Delgado, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds.
Lathrop is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. As for Grace Davis, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-6.
Lathrop will be playing in front of their home fans against Beyer at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Beyer will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 893rd, while Lathrop is ranked 435th). As for Grace Davis, they will head out on the road to face off against Pacheco at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Pacheco is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.
