Basketball Recap: Huntingtown Comes Up Short

Huntingtown lost against McDonough back in February and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Huntingtown Hurricanes were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 70-69 to the McDonough Rams. While the Hurricanes didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Rams 20-16 in the first quarter.

Several Hurricanes players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Brady Swann, who went 9 for 14 on his way to 22 points and six rebounds. With that strong performance, Swann is now averaging an impressive 15.4 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Conner Lawrence, who went 7 of 12 on his way to 19 points and five assists.

Even though they lost, Huntingtown was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

It was another big night for Zavian Riley, who went 9 of 18 on his way to 26 points and four steals for McDonough. The dominant performance gave Riley a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mekhai Johnson, who posted 11 points and six assists.

Huntingtown now has a losing record at 2-3. As for McDonough, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 3-1.

Huntingtown didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 65-59 win against Annapolis on the 20th. As for McDonough, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 63-38 victory against Calvert on the 20th.
