The Millikan Rams will challenge the Lakewood Lancers at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Millikan is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.3 runs per game this season.
Millikan came out on top against Cabrillo on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run first inning. The Rams were the clear victors by a 9-1 margin over the Jaguars. The Rams might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 contests by eight runs or more this season.
Austin Brett looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Ben Keisler was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, two doubles, and one triple. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Matthew Ness, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Millikan was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cabrillo only posted a batting average of .130.
Meanwhile, Lakewood can bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Jordan 9-8.
Gavin Koontz was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Anthony Rueda was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
Millikan pushed their record up to 19-6 with the victory, which was their ninth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.1 runs over those games. As for Lakewood, their victory bumped their record up to 11-13.
Millikan took their win against Lakewood in their previous meeting back in March by a conclusive 15-0 score. Do the Rams have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Lancers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
