Basketball Recap: Lassen Drops Highest Score of Season Against Redding Christian

Lassen scored the most points they've had this season on Saturday, but it wasn't enough. They might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting the Redding Christian Lions an easy 73-51 win. The Grizzlies were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Lions apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2021.

Lassen's loss came despite strong showings from Kinley Somerville and Maddie Cheshire. Somerville posted ten points along with six boards and five assists, while Cheshire put up five points in addition to nine boards and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Mya Morales, who had eight points and three steals.

Even though they lost, Lassen smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in four consecutive matchups.

Lassen has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season. As for Redding Christian, they moved to 4-6 with that victory, which also ended their five-game losing streak.

Lassen will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on West Valley at 1:30 p.m. on January 3, 2025. Redding Christian will also get a bit of a break before their next game: they'll face off against St. Bernard's at 1:00 p.m. on January 4, 2025.
