The Westminster Lions lost against the Godinez Fundamental Grizzlies on January 9th, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Westminster fell 41-28 to Godinez Fundamental. While losing is never fun, Westminster can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1055th, while Godinez Fundamental is ranked 410th).
Godinez Fundamental found their leader in underclassman Julissa Mota, who scored ten points along with nine rebounds. Lizbeth Lagunas was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with five steals.
This is the second loss in a row for Westminster and nudges their season record down to 4-18. As for Godinez Fundamental, the victory (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 14-8.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Westminster will take on Segerstrom at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Godinez Fundamental, they will be playing at home against Katella at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Katella will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
