Having just played yesterday, the Dawson Springs Panthers will jump right back in to play the Paducah Tilghman Blue Tornado at 12:45 p.m. on Friday. Dawson Springs has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
On Thursday, Dawson Springs wrapped up 2023 with a 71-52 win over Allen County-Scottsville. Given Dawson Springs' advantage in MaxPreps' Kentucky basketball rankings (they are ranked 109th, while Allen County-Scottsville is ranked 265th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Dawson Springs' win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Montgomery Johnston, who scored 23 points along with seven assists and five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Rex Blue, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 18 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Paducah Tilghman unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Friday. They might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting Massac County an easy 90-70 win. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Dawson Springs' victory bumped their record up to 8-4. As for Paducah Tilghman, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 5-3.
